How Fairy Cleaning started

Fairy Cleaning began the way most good local businesses do: one home, one referral, and a promise that the second visit would be as good as the first. Our founder had cleaned for families across the North Shore for years and kept hearing the same frustrations — a different crew every week, rushed 45-minute visits billed as a full clean, surprise fees, and nobody to call when something was missed. So we built the opposite of that. A small, trained, background-checked team. A written checklist that never changes. A flat quote agreed before we ever walk through the door. Today we clean apartments in Boston, family homes in Peabody and Danvers, historic properties in Salem and Marblehead, and offices and studios throughout the region.

What makes us different

Most cleaning companies sell hours. We sell a result. Every Fairy visit follows a room-by-room checklist built around the things people actually notice — the shower glass, the faucet base, the baseboards behind the door, the microwave interior, the floor edges a vacuum usually skips. Team leads review the checklist before leaving, and if something is missed, we come back and fix it. That is the whole guarantee, with no fine print. We also keep the same team with the same home whenever scheduling allows, because a crew that already knows where you keep the mop, which rug can't get wet, and which dog hides under the bed simply does better work than a crew meeting your house for the first time.

Practically, that means we bring all supplies and equipment, we work with pet-safe and fragrance-free products on request, and we quote flat rates rather than open-ended hourly billing. You can book a weekly, biweekly, or monthly plan, a one-time deep clean, a move-in or move-out clean for a lease turnover or closing, or after-hours office cleaning for your business.

Letting someone into your home is a real decision, and we treat it that way. Every cleaner is background checked before their first job and trained on our checklist alongside a team lead. Fairy Cleaning is fully insured and bonded, so both your property and our team are protected. Most recurring clients give us a key, lockbox code, or door code and never need to be home — access details are stored privately and only shared with the crew assigned to your home. If you'd rather be there for the first visit, that is completely normal and we recommend it, so you can walk us through anything we should know.
